Now Hiring: Software Engineer (IT GIS), Hybrid | Richmond, VA Schedule: – 1 week onsite / 1 week remote No C2C or third-party candidatesNo Visa Sponsorship or Visa TransfersCandidates must be located in or near Richmond, VA We're seeking an experienced Software Engineer with a strong background in IT GIS to join a collaborative team supporting enterprise GIS applications and utility modernization initiatives. This is a newly created position offering the opportunity to work with cutting-edge Esri technologies, develop innovative GIS solutions, and contribute to mission-critical business systems. The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate has 5+ years of IT GIS software development experience with strong expertise in the Esri platform, including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, Utility Network, and enterprise geodatabases. They possess solid JavaScript and .NET development skills, along with Python scripting experience, and are comfortable building GIS applications, integrations, and automation solutions. Experience in the electric utility industry is highly preferred, but candidates from government, transportation, environmental, or telecommunications backgrounds with strong Esri GIS experience will also be considered. The right individual is a collaborative team player with excellent communication skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and a desire to contribute to a close-knit, innovative team. What You'll Do Design, develop, and support enterprise GIS applications and backend systemsBuild integrations, automation workflows, web services, and GIS solutions using modern development practicesWork closely with Product Owners, Architects, Infrastructure, and Security teams to deliver scalable solutionsAnalyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex application and production support issuesDevelop technical documentation, perform testing, and mentor junior team members Required Qualifications 5+ years of IT GIS software development experienceStrong experience with JavaScript and .NETPython programming experience, including ArcPy scripting Hands-on experience with the Esri platform, including: ArcGIS EnterpriseArcGIS ProPortal for ArcGISArcGIS ServerUtility NetworkEnterprise GeodatabasesFeature ServicesExperience with REST APIs, JSON, SQL, Oracle and/or SQL ServerStrong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills Nice to Have Electric or Gas Utility industry experienceEsri Utility Network expertise (branch versioning, tracing, subnetworks)ArcGIS Enterprise AdministrationFME or other ETL toolsOracle Spatial or Enterprise Geodatabase administrationGIS CertificationCloud, GIS modernization, GeoAI, or AI/ML experience Team & Culture You'll join a close-knit team that values collaboration, innovation, and creative problem-solving.
