Cox Automotive is leading an exciting initiative to deploy enterprise AI capabilities on AWS Quick across the organization, enhancing how teams operate daily. As a Software Engineer II, you will apply secure software engineering principles in designing, developing, testing, maintaining, and evaluating software and cloud infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with team members to understand business needs, contribute to architectural discussions, and deliver robust and secure systems. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a corporate-wide AI transformation with executive support, access to AWS technical teams, and rapid skill development in AI platform engineering. What You'll Do Build & Ship Develop connectors that integrate Quick with enterprise systems, including API wrapping, authentication management, error handling, and data availability for AI agents.Release features on the AI Artifact Hub— addressing bugs, improving performance, and adding new capabilities for internal users.Write clean, tested Python code for APIs, data pipelines, AI agent skills, and platform tooling.Enforce integration standards and support domain teams in publishing servers to the enterprise connector catalog.Implement features end-to-end: design, code, test, deploy, and monitor in production environments.Learn & Grow Collaborate with senior engineers to learn architecture patterns, code review practices, and standards for production engineering.Develop expertise in AI platform concepts: knowledge ingestion, embedding, agent orchestration, evaluation frameworks, and access control for AI systems.Enhance your AWS skills through hands-on experience with services like Lambda, S3, IAM, API Gateway, and infrastructure as code.Contribute to data safety by ensuring AI agents respect user permissions and safeguard against unauthorized data exposure.Engage in design discussions— your insights are valued in a small, collaborative team.Operate & Support Instrument your systems— set up metrics, logging, alerting, and dashboards to identify issues proactively.Assist in evaluation and feedback systems— develop automated test suites to measure agent quality and record human insights for improvements.Maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) and infrastructure as code (Terraform) with guidance from experienced team members.Contribute to documentation for systems, operational runbooks, and onboarding material.Participate in on-call rotation with mentorship from senior engineers.Who You Are Bachelor's degree in Computer Science with a minimum of 2 years of experience in a related field, or a master’s degree with up to 2 years of experience, or 14 years of relevant experience.At least 2 years of professional software development experience in building production applications or services.Proficient in Python, with experience writing APIs, scripts, or data processing logic.Familiarity with AWS cloud services (e.g., Lambda, S3, IAM, API Gateway) or another major cloud provider.Experience with version control (Git) and collaborative development workflows (pull requests, code reviews).Basic understanding of APIs (REST, authentication patterns) and knowledge in integrating with third-party services.Willingness to learn new technologies and tackle more complex engineering challenges.Excellent communication skills and a strong team-oriented mindset.Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship required.Ability to work in the office three days per week.Open to participating in an on-call rotation with mentorship from senior engineers.Preferred Qualifications Experience with AI/ML tools, APIs, prompt engineering, or developing AI-enabled features.Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) or CI/CD processes (GitHub Actions).Knowledge of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) or building interfaces for AI systems.Experience with data platforms (Snowflake, Databricks, data lakes, or similar).Understanding of authorization models in multi-user systems (row-level security, role-based access).Exposure to cost optimization or FinOps in cloud environments.Interest in knowledge graphs, embeddings, vector databases, or search technologies.Experience with event-driven architectures or serverless computing patterns.Background in building internal tools or developer platforms.Previous work in automotive, media, or large enterprise environments is a plus.The salary range for this position is USD 89,400.00 - 134,000.00 per year. This range may vary based on factors like location and candidate qualifications. The position may also include additional compensation opportunities through incentive programs.
