Description Entry-Level Software Engineer Leidos Defense is on the lookout for a passionate Software Engineer to join our dynamic Modeling, Simulation & Training team. This exciting position allows you to contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of immersive simulation environments that play a vital role in advanced training, modeling, and simulation for defense programs. You will thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced setting, with ample opportunities to work on mission-critical systems using cutting-edge technology. Location: Orlando, FL This position requires U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a DISS Secret Security Clearance. Primary Responsibilities: Design, develop, test, and maintain simulation and training software using Agile methodologies. Integrate Unity-based environments with backend systems and data pipelines (C++, Python, Java). Create modeling, simulation, and analysis tools for algorithm development and system testing. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams of engineers to deliver high-performance, scalable solutions. Debug and optimize complex software systems on various architectures and operating systems (Windows, Linux). Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing tools such as Git, Jenkins, and Docker. Prepare and update documentation for design, development, and testing processes. Support the integration, testing, and deployment of software in both operational and training environments. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field from an ABET-accredited institution; professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree. Must be a U.S. Citizen and capable of obtaining a DISS Secret Security Clearance. 1+ years of hands-on experience in software development (internship or co-op experience is acceptable). Strong understanding of object-oriented design, data structures, and network communications. Experience with Unity for simulation or game development. Familiarity with C++, Python, Java, and Linux-based systems. Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and visual). Ability to excel in a team-oriented, fast-paced technical environment. Experience with software configuration management tools. Preferred Qualifications: Active DISS Secret clearance. Familiarity with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket). Exposure to military simulation environments. Experience with web technologies (HTML, CSS, XML, REST, JSON). Knowledge of interface communication standards/protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DDS). Experience designing simulations that involve spatial analysis and working with large datasets. Participation in peer reviews and continuous process improvement initiatives. Experience with UML or SYSML for documenting analysis and design. Proficient with MS Teams and SharePoint. Familiarity with automated testing techniques.
